Germany, Munich
Full-time
Permanent employee

Your daily workout

Are you a creative visionary with a passion for design and leadership? Do you thrive in a fast-paced environment where innovation and collaboration are key? We’re looking for an ambitious Team Lead Design (m/f/d) in our Munich Headquarter to inspire and guide our talented team of Designers. In this role, you'll be at the forefront of our creative efforts, shaping the visual identity of our brand and driving design excellence across all projects. You won't just be overseeing design work—you'll be a mentor, a strategist, and a champion for creativity in a moment of transformation. We're not looking for someone to perfect an already great team. We're looking for someone to build foundations to raise a great team up. Join EGYM now and give your career a workout!

  • Leadership: You set the bar for design excellence and lead with clarity & enablement. You establish core design processes and quality standards that the team follows
  • Design Work: You ensure the delivery of excellent design by balancing strategic leadership with real craft. You don't just oversee—you're hands-on and ready to jump in and design when a critical project needs your expertise
  • Coordination: You work closely with the Head of Brand & Design, marketing, and product teams to strategically align design with company objectives. As the translator between business needs and creative execution, you understand what matters for the company, translate that into design priorities, and keep the team focused
  • Guidance: You coach your team through change with honesty and support while providing clear, constructive feedback. You mentor with purpose by helping each team member understand not just "what" but "why"
  • Project Management: You compress timelines and remove blockers to ensure fast execution without sacrificing quality. By identifying what is blocking the team and fixing it, you manage deadlines with precision—not as pressure, but as a way to create focus
  • AI: You lead the integration of AI into design with eyes open—not as an expert, but as a curious leader who experiments alongside the team to figure out where AI enhances craft and where it doesn't belong
  • Collaboration: You lead by asking questions and holding regular team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and opportunities, while conducting clear performance reviews and setting objectives together with your team
  • Resource Management: You allocate resources strategically, not just operationally, managing the design team with intention based on individual skill, growth opportunity, and what matters most

Your fitness level

  • Qualification: You have a strong design foundation with a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, or related field or even an equivalent portfolio-based experience
  • Management: You've led design teams through change or challenges. 3+ years of proven design team leadership experience, ideally in transformation rather than stable organizations. You understand that leadership in a transforming context requires clarity, speed, and psychological safety simultaneously
  • Professional Expertise: Your portfolio displays strong work across multiple projects showing both breadth and depth—work that demonstrates craft and strategic thinking
  • Communication: You use your excellent English communication and interpersonal skills to explain the "why" rather than just the "what," adapting to your audience, listening well, and making complex decisions sound simple
  • Resilience: You thrive in fast-moving, changing environments and are able to manage multiple projects simultaneously, deliver on tight deadlines, and maintain quality under pressure. You don't get paralyzed by ambiguity—you move forward with what you know and adapt as you learn more
  • Tools: You are proficient in design software like Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, Miro, and basic Jira, while maintaining a learning-oriented mindset toward AI. You have already experimented with AI tools for design or are eager to learn, remaining willing to experiment and iterate as these tools evolve rapidly
  • Mentorship: You develop people with experience in mentoring design talent. You identify potential, give stretch assignments, provide feedback, and help people grow
  • Approach: You combine craft and strategy with strong organizational skills and attention to detail. You understand customer needs and translate them into design decisions

Your training goal for your first 6 months

  • Understanding: You map the landscape to gain a deep understanding of EGYM's customers, target markets, brand positioning, and the current state of the design team. By understanding what resonates with them, you quickly establish credibility as someone with clear standards who follows through
  • Specializing You establish three core design processes and quality standards, including a Quality Review Standard, Feedback Culture, and Asset Alignment. You ensure they are clear, documented, and followed, guiding the team to fully operate within this new framework by week 8
  • Developing: You stabilize and grow your team through the first transformation phase within your first 12 weeks by identifying individual strengths and providing regular feedback. You show the team you care about their growth by helping each person specialize in areas that align with their skills and our strategic goals
  • Leading the AI Evolution: You introduce AI into design workflows as an exploration tool rather than a replacement threat, experimenting alongside your team between weeks 4 and 12 to form a clear point of view on how AI fits into our process by month 6
